“Just can’t know” is an expression I learned from my mother. I think it originated with a cousin of mine saying it as a toddler, and it’s just stuck in my family as something we say when we’re dumbfounded or confused. I find myself in this state more often than not.

I’m Amanda, and I am an editor and freelance writer living in Northern California amidst the cow pastures and fog. I love the written word more than anything – it is my comfort and solace in a hectic, though lovely, life. I’ll be sharing mostly book reviews, but also random tidbits that I find interesting. I feel the need to share my chatter in blog form, so please feel free to communicate back to me through comments.

I’m so glad you’ve started a blog! I can’t wait to hear random tidbits—and, of course, about books.

I’m looking forward to following your blog, as I, too, share a lifelong love of reading. Already I see we have some favourite authors in common, and that you will also be introducing me to others. Just curious, do you ever read cookbooks? My other great passion in life is cooking, and I can find great comfort reading a cookbook or good writing about food.

Oh yes, I love reading cookbooks! I’ve got some reviews posted some food writing and various cookbooks, and I plan to do a lot more. Looks like we have a lot in common!
